Peru Mission Trip
As you may know, it was looking as though God was opening the door for me to go to Uganda for three months this summer. As the year got closer, I started feeling uneasy about this trip. I knew that if God wanted me to go, He would calm my nerves and I would feel peace. As I prayed, I asked God to shut the door if He did not want me to go to Uganda for these three months. He did close the door; He just put a complete stop to the trip. When the Lord stopped this trip, I was at peace with it; however, it did not take long for the longing in my heart to be on the mission field to come back.
As I slowly started telling people that the Lord shut the door, I had two or three different people tell me, “Well, who knows? Maybe God is going to take you somewhere new.” Friend, He is taking me somewhere new! When God first spoke to me about doing missions, Peru was one of the places He put in my heart. For five years I have wanted to go to Peru and for five years, the Lord had said, “Not yet.” This summer, He is saying, “Go!” And I could not be any more thrilled than I am. I have known the family that is leading the trip for seven years. Every year they have taken a group to Peru at least once a year and this year may be the last year. I am so thrilled that God has opened the door for this incredible opportunity.
I love the family that is leading the trip so much. I am ecstatic to be working with them! I feel that this trip will be a lot different than the last four I have been on. While we will be building homes for people, we will also be doing a youth camp (much like the one I met this family at and part of my expenses will be going toward sending three Peruvian teenagers to our youth camp) and ministering in schools and on the streets, as well as working in churches and feeding centers.
I am so excited to be able to take this trip and I thank you in advance for your prayers, encouragement and financial support.
