In November, I started dance lessons to prepare a routine for the Dancing with the Prospect Stars competition, whereby I am dancing to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK). This specific event is unique in that it is the only one in the region that allows the dancers to select their own charity organization for proceeds to be donated to. This appealed to me, as I saw it as a special way to contribute to an organization I’ve volunteered with for eight years now.
The event – to be held on February 21, 2016 – will be an exciting experience in and of itself. But, I believe the journey over the coming months is an equally important opportunity to create awareness and raise monies for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana.
“I’m dancing for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana so the organization can continue its mission of providing a 'home away from home' for families of children receiving healthcare at area medical facilities while also lending support to other organizations who aid children. Since having children myself, I can only imagine the fear and vulnerability associated with seeing your little one not feeling well and needing medical attention. I’m dancing for family strength and well-being."
